It is the start to the Easter weekend and we can’t go anywhere. Which makes it the perfect time to have a good old pamper session and try a face mask. Every Friday I try, test and review a different face mask for you all. One that is helpful enough to make you decide on whether to buy the mask or not! Skincare is for everyone or should be, if you think of it as your face is always on show so why not make it look healthy like your teeth and eyes. Normally I go for masks that will help my skin type, being normal to dry but if the mask shouts enough at me on the shelf I am bound to try that as well.
This week’s mask is another Yes To mask. A good affordable brand. One I have used several times before, that I even had to check I hadn’t reviewed this before on my blog! It is a vitamin C glow boosting mud mask. Formulated with kaolin clay, to gently cleanse your skin without drying it out. The natural powers of vitamin C helps to change dull and uneven skin tones to brighter, refreshed and glowing skin. 95% of the ingredients are natural. Cruelty free and vegan friendly too.
Yes To’s packaging is always bright and vibrant. Always something linked to the name or ingredient in the product. This being bright pink with the grapefruit slices all over. All of Yes To’s packaging has a lady on it using the product. I love fashion illustrations and the image of the lady is really cute. Pear drop in shape packaging and the white stripe running across to make the logo and name stand away from the pink background.
The back of the packet is the have to haves and the instructions. Ingredients and what not. Something that made me laugh about the back, is the ingredient. “Grapefruit – naturally packed with antioxidants. Also good with breakfast.” Now don’t go eating this mask for breakfast please. Is a sort of joke, but truthful that most natural ingredients in skincare products are eatable in another form. Instructions are only written but clear.
On to trying this mask on. It is a mask you apply. My favourite kind. When I opened this, the scent of the mask smelt woody. Like woodland or an oak table sort of smell. Not sure it was overly grapefruit scented. Orange in colour and thick in constancy because of the clay in it. Actually the smell could be more powerful because of the clay. Though I say its orange in colour, some may class this as peach or salmon pink. Salmon pink to me is orange! Easy to open and apply.
I always use my fingers to apply a mask. It just seems that I can get a better coverage with my fingers than a brush. Starting with a clean face, I applied the mask. Quite at thick layer is recommended but I go all out anyway mostly because I want the mask to work to its full potential on my skin.
It is the texture of putty, that is how I would explain it. Though thicker, it’s easy to roll out of the pack. An average amount went a long way with a generous amount applied. By a generous amount I mean that the mask was thickly applied and I can imagine if I want/needed to, I could take a layer off and still have a face full. This is a single use mask, so use as much as you can. Worth it to get the full potential out of it.
Went on really easy and before I knew it, my face was covered and I was ready to go chill out for 5-10 minutes. This is why skincare is for everyone. And I really mean everyone. What can you do in 10 minutes? Read a chapter of your book, do some homework with the kids, start the dinner, hoover, lay down, watch a YouTube video. Anything! For me face masks are relaxing so I normally read or watch something. Sometimes I chat to friends or just lay there meditating. Such a calming thing to do, when you are relaxing with a face mask on.
Like that the time is over. I left mine on for the 10 minutes. As the mask dried out on my face the clay darkened to a tanned orange/pink colour. The weirdo that I am, I love watching masks work. How they work and what they do. Just random how they change colours, or make your face stiff so any facial emotion cracks the mask. Love it.
Using warm water and a flannel, I just washed my face gently to remove the mask. Some was not wanting to budge so I had to try a little rougher in places. It was fairly easy to remove. A few wipes really and it was gone. You know the usual places like round the nose and a few dots were still stuck. So I just really rinsed the flannel and wet it fully again, then rubbed the flannel fully over my face and they then went.
My face was a little red in places after rubbing the mask off, but I did have to rub hard in some places so its to be expected. After a while it had settled and my face still is now, in really good condition. The bright glow appeared and I love that look when your skin looks good, bringing the healthy glow. Even now a few days after, my face is the perfect blend and there isn’t any dryer or oily patches anywhere. There is no boost needed now.
There really isn’t much I can fault about this mask. It is a glow boosting mask and it certainly does that! A quick 5-10 minute use, which is nothing in time really and has huge benefits by using this. We all need that boost every now and then so it’s worth to keep, even if it’s for a rainy day.
£2.99 in price which is on the cheaper side of face masks. Average is around £5-£10 really even for a single use like this. Making this mask affordable, for weekly use to once a month use. Even the one off it’s not really breaking the bank!
Like I mentioned, it’s a mask for anyone. We all need that boost from time to time. Everyones skin chances from week to week, season to season. The change in the weather, the drier mine gets and the warmer the better condition. Where my skin type is normal to dry, its the best when masks like this don’t over boost. For me I don’t want my skin to turn oily by over boosting. This mask sort of knows when its done its thing and stops before it over works.
Though the scent is a little strong to begin with, its not an overly awful smell and it was gone within seconds of me applying the first bit of mask. It isn’t an off putting smell either like others I have tried.
Honestly get this mask, there is nothing I can fault about it. It does its job and works so well. Sometimes things alter especially with price. Works that you are paying more for certain brands. But why should/would you when something cheap as this works so well? Yes To are an affordable beauty skincare brand and they are making them useable to everyone. Go get it now.
What is your favourite mask at the minute? One you would recommend me?
