It is the weekend finally and time to relax and chill out. Face mask time because its time for another face mask Friday review. Skincare is so important. If you think about it, your face is always on show. So why not take care of your skin, as you would your teeth, ears and eyes? You are never too old or young to start a skincare routine. I am here every Friday reviewing different masks for you all. But they are also part of my skincare routine. Most I try are for my skin type normal to dry, but others just take my fancy and I try them as well.
This weeks mask is by the well known brand Yes To. Yes To is a brand that I have used several times before. Most of their products are Yes To a fruit or vegetable, this being yes to cucumbers. Their cucumber calming mud mask is formulated with cucumbers and French green clay. It is meant to sooth and balance your skin, whilst effectively purifying it. In the short amount of time you have to wear this, it removes impurities from deep within the pores. Your skin is meant to be left feeling cool and hydrated.
What is the first thing you think of, when you think of cucumbers? Green right? Well of course the packaging is green. One thing I love about Yes To’s packaging, is the illustrated people, looking as they are to do the mask you are about to do. It just looks cute and the teardrop shaped package is cute as well. The prints of the cucumbers and the photo of an actual cucumber, brings all the cucumber vibes to this packaging.
The back of the packaging is just the instructions, ingredients and all the information any mask has to have on it. Pretty boring really but at the same time its worth reading the instructions in particular. Things to look for, are the amount of time to leave on and how to start. Some masks really like to through you with these. This is a 5-10 minute leave on mask, which is on the shorter side for a clay mask. Yes To cucumber is vegan and 95% of the ingredients are natural, which both are really good and something I look for in products.
To begin with, I have a very clean and completely natural face. The instructions ask for this and why would you really use a mask with a full face of makeup on?! When I opened the packet, I thought there wasn’t much of a mask and it had dried up. Bear in mind I had had this mask for 2 weeks before using it. It took some time to get the mask out and it was so thick.
Sort of felt like I was putting play dough on my face, it was that thick. It was really dry as well which made it harder to get out the packet and onto my face. I always use my fingers to apply masks, but that is my personal preference.
You would never really think cucumber was a powerful smell, until you open and spread the first amount on to your face. It is very strong to begin with and is more of a yellow in colour. Considering its cucumbers and French green. The colour is definitely on the yellower side, than the green.
The more you play around with the mask, the warmth of your hands, I guess make the mask more moveable. Which is 100% needed for this mask. I was so surprised when the tiniest bit rolled up in the pack for me to apply. It takes a lot to cover your face and the amount needed to spread is a lot. After a little longer playing around and making sure I had an even and thick amount all over my face, it was time to be satisfied and leave the mask to do its magic.
Ten minutes go by so fast. I sat and wrote in my bullet journal. Got the food out the freezer for the next day and by the time I walked back the 2 minute walk to the bathroom, 10 minutes were up. What can you do in 10 minutes? There are a lot of things you can do in 10 minutes. Though masks are meant to be relaxing, if you are juggling to find time to skincare. Totally use this time to do what you need, whilst wearing the mask.
For the first time, I decided I wouldn’t use the flannel to wipe off, like I planned to and would normally do. The instructions ask you to use warm water and wash off your face. It is weird but I have always just washed a flannel and wiped off. But this time I cupped my hands in the water and washed this off my face. I will never look back now. Washing it off like this was so much easier and quicker. Though I had to dab my eyes a couple times, to check, it works so much better.
Straight after washing the mask off my face, my skin was really smooth and so soft. Today, we are nearly 24 hours after use, my face is still in really good condition. Just not as soft as straight after. The condition is amazing though.
The only thing I would say as a negative to this mask, is the fact that it’s so hard to get out the package. If it was in a pot or more moveable, it would be the best clay mask I’ve used. I know I could of just opened the packet more or something. But it took a lot to move. Really I thought that it had set in the packet before I had a chance to try it.
Other than that factor, I would recommend this mask. It’s beautiful, dries quickly and has balanced my skin out. Based on what it is meant to do and what it has done. Well its has done exactly that. My skin looks really good and smooth.
Price wise, Yes To are really cheap and affordable for everyone. Which makes them really user friendly. This is normally £3, but is on offer right now for £2.25. I did have to use the whole mask but that is still a really good price for a one off clay mask.
I use masks weekly and I like them to keep my skin looking the best it can. This has definitely done that and more. It looks really healthy and beautiful. So I would recommend this mask to anyone. Just be prepared for a rough start when applying it.
What is your go to mask at the minute?
