Happy face mask Friday! I am super grateful for Friday, its been a long week and I am ready for a chilled pamper weekend. If you are new here, hello welcome. Every Friday I take a mask, try it and review it for you. Skincare is so important and like other health things we keep taking care of. We should take care of our skin too.
This week’s mask is a sleep mask. Another from the brand Yes too. Which now I have had mixed reviews on them as a brand and there coconut products. But today mine is my own and my own experience of their coconut ultra hydrating, moisturising sleep mask. Sleep masks are good for everyone because everyone attempts to sleep right?
The mask is suitable for people who tend to have dryer skin. Mine if you didn’t know is normal to dry. Though with storm Ciara about, I am really feeling the moisture leaving me fast! Of course this mask is made using coconut oil and coconut oil has a huge benefit in various ways, health wise and beauty. Anything really. It is to be used to intensely hydrate your skin, leaving it soft and smooth.
Let’s talk packaging. Personally I always find Yes To as a brand to have bright inviting colours and designs. I don’t overly think this one meets the standards. Maybe it’s because coconuts from the out nut are brown, that they have take that as the base colour. The opening to peel off the nut and reach the white package, to be the inside of the nut. As I wrote that, the more it made sense. Love the animation of the lady applying on the mask. Which appears on all their mask packaging. Placing the pillow on the front, symboling the sleep element of this mask, but cleverly this is the actual packet of mask inside.
Instructions are always important to read and even if its something like this a sleep mask. Because some do surprise you with timings, how to apply and random other things. These are all on the back in picture and written forms. The ingredients and all the must haves that most tend to not read are printed there also. For me, I love picture instructions. I don’t know why but they make the mask become more user friendly and inviting. Reading isn’t my strongest talent in life and so having the pictures, helps me to understand more.
Starting with brushing my teeth, taking my tablets and having a clean, cleansed face. I could start to apply. Opening the mask packet was easy and the mask itself was thicker than I expected. The feel and texture of it reminded me of something my dad used after a shave when I was little. He may still use it now but I don’t live with them.
Most sleep masks are lighter in consistency and you can’t hardly tell they are on once applied. This was thick. I could really tell how intense the hydrating would be from the layer I applied. Applying this mask was easy. Went far even though it looks like it didn’t. Must of been the texture of the mask and the thickness because it stayed on my face no matter how much I massaged it in.
Anyway when my face was fully covered and massaged in as much as I could, it was time for bed. Am I the only person that goes to sleep worrying when I have a mask on like this? It was obvious it was on my face and I wriggle a lot in the night to get comfortable especially. So it most probably covered and hydrated my pillows too.
That was it, I fell asleep at half 9 and woke up to my alarm the next morning at 7am. This is why masks are so versatile and no one can say they don’t have enough time for skincare. You go to sleep for the night don’t you? Well in this case anyway. But you have a spare 20 minutes for a mask most days. Don’t you cook dinner, or wash up? Watch the television? These are all perfectly good times for a mask.
Coconut oil for me is something I think of as an oil, something that sinks in and disappears in some way. So I was shocked to wake up in the morning and find crumbs of coconut on my face still. For the 9 and half hours I was asleep for I really thought the mask would of sunk in and disappeared. To be fair there was a lot of mask on my face to absorb but still I expected it all to have gone.
Waking up to the crumbs of coconut and basically looked like I had dandruff on my face. My face felt oily and sticky. The instructions state to wash off and glow. So that is what I did, using a flannel I wet, I wiped all over my face to wash off the extra mask. Though clearing I didn’t wash it off good enough when I went to the toilet at lunch time and found coconut flake in my eyebrow!
There was no need for me to wear day cream that day because my face had so much goodness in it from this mask. My face just felt a little oily and in good form. Soft and smooth. Which of course this mask is meant to do. So I just applied mascara and eyeliner to my lower lashes, got dressed and I was good for the day. Yes I have false top lashes on. Obviously ignore the crazy bed head look and wild hair. I was grateful for the full set of lashes.
Reasons to love this mask. You sleep in it. It doesn’t take up your time. If your skin is really dry and in desperate need of a healthy, good boost. To top up and stay with healthy happy skin. Because it has the goodness everyone needs every now and again or often depending on your skin type. That it’s a bargain price of £2.99, which is on the cheap side for one use masks.
Why you may not like it? I don’t no really. If you don’t like coconut or it irritates your skin. Though touch wood it doesn’t mine. Because you have dark sheets and you don’t want it touching. Tip for you sleep with a towel on your pillow. Skin types on the oilier side, is definitely not the mask for you. No point putting more oil into oily skin.
100% a really good sleep mask. Works as it says it should. Gives you the boost you need, depending on skin type. Bargain £2.99 which is affordable especially as for me, it’s not an everyday mask to use. The instructions are super user friendly and easy to follow, both picture and written.
So all I can say is, if your skin is dry, boarding dry to normal. Then get this mask. What is your go to mask at the minute? Any recommendations for me to try?
