Happy face mask Friday everyone! It’s finally the weekend and we can all chill and unwind for the weekend. Friday’s for me are face mask Friday’s. Every week I try and review a new mask for you all. Sort of try before you buy expect I am trying it for you. Normally I go for masks to suit and help my skin type, which is normal to dry but if it looks cool or shouts out at me on the shelf then I am likely to give this a go as well.
This week’s mask is by Tonymoly. A brand I haven’t heard or used before. It’s a Korean beauty brand and they have some good stuff in the beauty industry. But its avocado and avocado is good for you. If you are a regular reader to these then you will know I am still on the hunt for a sheet mask that actually fits my face without too much to fold and tuck in. Being the avocado mask is a sheet I thought I would try it.
First up the packaging. It’s green, what more can you expect from an avocado. Sort of think it’s cute. The illustration of the avocado cut in half, fresh with the stone in the middle and the leaves on the stork. Pretty simple actually if you think about it, but effective. All the information on the back shows the instructions and the relevant details that have to be on products. Love that it has picture and written instructions. I wish I could understand and read in Korean language, most of the detailing on the back is in both English and Korean.
I’m avocado, the sheet mask is a triple layered mask enhanced with natural ingredients and avocado extract that will nourish skin and revitalise your complexion.
Opening this packet up was super easy. But I had had it standing upright so all the goodness had fallen to the bottom. Which for me I didn’t realise was the opening. So I just pushed all the mask and extra liquid back up towards the top of the packet.
When I opened it, oh my it slept so nice. Sort of the scent of a hairdressers. Hairspray, shampoo and conditioner, with the running water sort of smell. So I guess chemically but nice. It wasn’t an unpleasant smell. More of a nice, spa type, relaxing smell. Though I thought it would smell more of avocado. Thinking about it now as I write, do avocados have a smell? Anyway it didn’t smell as I expected it to.
Easy as to pull out to a full mask from the folded up one. But it was super slimy and sticky a little. Purely for all the goodness waiting to absorb into your face and skin. When It was fully open I wasn’t sure as to which side went straight on to my face.
I went with the sticker side. So that more of the mask went on my face. But I don’t know if that was right or not. This is what annoys me about sheet masks. Ok maybe I have a small face and yes you want to cater for all, but have sizes. Under my nose to my mouth is one finger width and seriously my lips are the worst for reacting to things. When you have to tug in and fold over several times then the mask doesn’t actually reach the places it needs to be working the most. Maybe it’s just me and I am useless but seriously if you can have sizes in everything else why not a sheet mask too?
Always read the instructions because a mask can always fool you. I mean that as well. You never know when a mask can be the normal 10-20 minutes or make you think really? With 1 minute. Today’s mask is a 20-30 minute leave on mask. Leave for the longer time if possible.
This is where you can’t say you don’t have time for skincare and mask. They are for everyone and it takes the same time as the dinner cooks, or you hoover the house. Read a book or half hour of television. Really is easy as and you will see benefits from using masks weekly. It isn’t like it takes hours. Make that time and see the difference. I wrote a blog post in my 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes were up, I simply pulled the sheet off my face. There was a nice even layer still covering my face which I gently massaged in. Though the instructions state to take mask off and you are good to go. I did have quite a bit left on my face so that is why I did so. Up to you based on what your result is.
Is this mask good? Well for me, my skin was glowing yesterday and all day today. Really good condition and a glow across it. Very soft and you could tell it had had a boost of goodness.
But tonight however as I write this, I have a dry patch across the side of my cheek. Which is disappointing. I actually haven’t had this problem in months so strange for it to appear after a nourishing and revitalising mask. Having the extra goodness to absorb as well. Really strange. My face other than that patch feels so good. Soft and smooth and a tint of the glow left. I am really tired though so my eyes look a little dark.
Based off the descriptions and what the mask is meant to do, I can’t overly say I am pleased. Yes it has worked but I didn’t expect this dry rough part under my cheek. Have to say though this is where the mask folds and tucks to fit my face better. Which could be a reason as to why.
It is £5 which is a pretty average price for a sheet mask. Shop around though see if you can get it cheaper. I personally won’t use this again for the fact my face is worse not even a full 24 hours later. Doesn’t overly impress me.
The smell is amazing though and the amount of product put into and given in the mask is good and worth the money. So much goodness in the form of that sheet and the packet itself. It’s just not nourished all over.
So for me this mask is a no unfortunately, unless they come up with different sized sheet masks or someone teaches me to get them to fit better. What is your go to mask at the minute? Recommend one for me?
