face mask friday

Believe it or not but it is Friday today. So that means one thing, it is face mask Friday. Perfect time for a pamper session, right? Chill, relax and unwind. If you are new around here, hello! Every Friday evening I review a different face mask for you all. Most are for my skin type, normal to dry but sometimes they just force themselves into my shopping basket and I try them as well.

skincareThis week’s mask is from the well loved brand Soap and Glory. A brand I don’t use often but love their products. Typically a stocking filler present is Soap and Glory. Actually this is my first face mask by Soap and Glory. The bright and beautiful sheet mask is meant to give you the post party boost you need. Packed with ingredients to refresh and revive your complexion including vitamin C. Scented with pink grapefruit and mint.

Let’s talk packaging. It is pretty much staple Soap and Glory. From the colours, patterns and the vintage figures printed on. There is something about Soap and Glory’s branding that I love. But I can’t pin point you in the direction because I’m not sure which it is. I guess it’s the combination of the vintage cross bold colours. Do you get what I mean? Maybe its the overall of it all coming together that makes me love it.

The backs of packaging are just the information that any product has to have. Instructions, ingredients and all the other important stuff that no body reads unless they really have to. As in something goes wrong! Love how the instructions are in picture form and written. Makes it so much more user friendly because depending on what the instruction is, either could explain better of what to do. For the wow factor there isn’t much overly fun for the back of this product. I guess the splash of orange and pink help. Wording of “girls just glow for it!”

As soon as I opened this pack up, the scents ran free. They smelt amazing actually and the grapefruit was more powerful over the mint. Which is surprising as mint has such a strong smell. Pulling the actual sheet out of the pack was like playing with slime. All gloppy and sticky. Really hard to find where the edge was to unfold the mask.

Starting with a clean dry face as most masks ask you to, simple as unfolding the mask and placing it on. Now if you are a regular reader, you will know me and sheet masks aren’t overly friends. Either I am not good at putting it on or I have a small face. Everything comes in sizes so why can’t face masks? It would actually make sense and work better, because we all have different sized faces, and the folds aren’t in the correct place. Which makes the mask just bunch up.

Always read the instructions or look at the picture form. The wear time is the important thing really. Some masks really like to catch you off guard and switch the times up. I would say its ok to leave on over the time recommendation but you wont get its full potential from leaving it for less. This mask is an 15-20 minute wear which is pretty much average.

Then it’s time to do what you want. This is why skincare is or should be for everyone. You can’t say you don’t have time because you can wear whilst doing something else. Normally I am reading or watching something on my iPad. But this time I was working. Yes my 9-5 job at home with a face mask on. First mask I’ve worn with mascara and eyeliner on but it still worked, I was just careful when it came to placing on around my eyes. Really you can do anything with a mask on.

When the time was up, the mask was still sticky and I could tell there was more to absorb but the time was well and truly up. A good 20 minutes is what I am talking about. The good thing about sheet masks, is how easy they are to take off. Quick peel of a corner and pull off. My face had a glow of the mask that was left to absorb. In the instructions it just asks you to gently massage in or wipe off with a cotton pad. I actually did both, massaged in as much as I could, then wiped away the rest.

Ready to go back to my work desk in the living room, with a bright and beautiful face. My face felt so soft and good. Boosted with good vitamins and ingredients to help my skin. You can tell my some of the pictures when I had wiped off my check and nose its a little red. But this soon went. Even now my skin feels super good. Bright and happy.

skincare

What did I think of this mask? Well its scents are beautiful and there is definitely enough of them and its ingredients to help this work. Though powerful they smell good so its ok. Not chemical or disinfectant smelling. Why would you want to smell like that when you can smell of grapefruit and mint?

skincare

For £4 this is an ok mask. The price is an overage price for a drugstore branded sheet mask. There aren’t that many that can put all into a mask and be successful as this one. Soap and Glory products tend to me on offer most of the time, so a better bargain when you get it on offer.

skincare

It does as it says it would do. So why wouldn’t it be an all round good product. We all need that boost and radiant glow from time to time and this does do it. Comparing to others I really would rather this over other bright radiance boosting mask.

But really I want a sheet mask that can fit better. I am tempted now to cut them into 2 because the one the other week was amazing in 2 halves. Is it worth potentially wrecking a pair of scissors?

Do sheet masks fit you? As in you don’t get the big bulges on your cheeks of folded mask. My forehead must be tiny because even that goes high into my hair line. I don’t know why but as much as this is really good, I am just finding sheet masks more hassle than they are worth.

Don’t get me wrong if you can work with sheet masks this is great. But me I am useless at them. What is your go to mask at the minute? Any you would recommend to me?
