face mask friday

It is face mask Friday. Time for the weekend thankfully and time for a bit of skincare for me. Every Friday I write a review of a different face mask. Skincare is really important to me and should be for everyone, if you think about it your face in particular is always on show, so why not look after it as you do your eyes and teeth! The face masks I tend to review are for my skin type which is normal to dry but some masks do just catch my attention and end up in the basket as well.

This weeks mask is by the brand Skin 79, one I am not overly familiar with. Seoul Girl’s beauty secret moisturising sheet mask is intensely nourishing and is perfect for dry complexions. To use weekly leaving your face hydrated, feeling smooth, healthy and refreshed. All within 20 minutes of wearing it.

I love fashion illustration and did at college as well. This isn’t fashion illustration but the packaging really reminds me of some. The oriental looking buildings and general architecture, the dog walking off the pack and the lady standing with the umbrella. All in quite neutral and dull tones but equally stands out to me as a bright bold packet would. Really unique and something I haven’t seen before on skincare. But I do love it. Unique is the best way to go and especially if you get it right. Using a simple font and black colour the name and brand is printed in the sky. Whereas a bright bold coloured pack shouts hello, this intrigues me to learn more and try the product.

The back of the packaging is pretty basic. Half being in Korean and the other being in english. Thankfully this is a sheet mask and the instructions aren’t overly confusing. So written only instructions are ok.

Most already know this but either my face is too small for sheet masks or I can’t put them on properly. They really annoy me when half the mask is folded up like origami on my face. I am still on the hunt for the best, we have a few ranking high but I am still on the look out for one that fits. Why can’t they make sheet masks in different sizes like socks and gloves?

skincareStarting with a cleanse and toned face, easy as you apply the sheet mask. When I was about to open the pack I could feel the mask was near the tear, so I did try push it down a little. It was bulging with goodness. There wasn’t overly a scent to the packet or mask, which is really good because those chemically scented ones are awful.

Putting the mask on was ok, as sheet masks can be. You know that I have trouble with them. Unfolding the mask wasn’t overly sticky which is really good. Applying it was fun, let’s put it that way. Now for me I have always thought the slits were to be positioned on your cheek area right? Mine were nearly on my chin. That is why they aren’t overly my friend because I have a tiny face.

It took some time to play around with, not going to lie. I thought I had got it at one point, then I went to take a photo as a good chunk was loose under my chin. My forehead goes amazingly, if all the mask went like that I would be loving life!

Anyway I tried my best and had to go with it. What was good is that the ingredients stayed to the mask, unlike others that run down your neck or ears. I did try to move the folds from the edges of my cheeks because that is one of the areas that becomes drier quicker. For me anyway. It is what it is when masks don’t going on properly.

This was a leave on for 15-20 minutes. Perfect for a little YouTube video. But with face masks you can do pretty much whatever you like. There is nothing stopping you and you can’t tell me you don’t have time. If you can multitask do this whilst hoovering or cooking the dinner. Read a chapter of your book. Time flies when you have a mask on.

Mine was on for a good 20 minutes and when that time was up, it was time to just peel the mask off. Simple as really. Take a corner and pull the sheet off. Now for me, some masks leave a crazy amount of the mask on your face and others don’t leave any. This mask left just enough to gently massage in. Which is so good. Those masks that say gently pat in but your face has a puddles worth still on it, it is impossible. I didn’t have to wipe any of this mask off, it all rub gently into my skin.

Now my skin is pretty good and to look at most will say it always is. I am very fortunate that spots are the rarest of thing and I didn’t even go through teenage acne at all. But it does get a little bumpy and blemishes do appear. This mask though has left my face and neck feeling amazing and even today, the day after I have that glow I needed.

skincare

The perfect amount has gone into this mask and now into my skin. My skin feels so soft to touch and smooth. A gentle glow has appeared and there is no sign of dry skin or anything in need of a boost. It’s also really good because it hasn’t gone over board and I don’t now have too oily and greasy looking skin. I have got the best out of the mask with the perfect blend to make my skin healthy.

skincare

Would I recommend this mask? Actually I would. £2.95 which is really good and affordable for a one use mask. Most masks average around the £5 mark so its decent. The mask does as it should do and to the right amount it needed to. I really just wish that they made sheet masks in sizes or children’s sized sheet masks so the fit would be better. Fit wise its not the best but if you can live with that then go get it.

What is your go to sheet mask at the minute?
