It is Friday! Finally, the week seemed to drag a little for me. Fridays are face mask Friday for me and I guess for most of my regular readers to. If you are new here, welcome. Every Friday I review a different face mask for you. Most are for my skin type normal to dry but others that randomly jump into my basket as well. The ones that scream must try when I see them. Skincare is for everyone and it’s really important, or should be. No matter if you are old, young or middle aged, skin care is totally for you. Think of it as you look after your teeth, eyes and general health so why not your skin to? Your face is the one thing that is always on show 24/7.
This week’s mask is from the brand Simple. Simple is a brand that I actually use daily. Really good for sensitive skin The brand Simple’s slogan is kind to the skin., which is marked on all products No artificial colours or perfume, no harsh chemicals to upset your skin, uses no mineral oils are used in their products and are cruelty free.
Hemp seed oil is very much trending now and seen on many products. Even non skincare and beauty. This is why I wanted to try this mask, ultra calming sheet mask because hemp seed oil is meant to be very good for you. The mask is for stetted and sensitive skin. I think we can all agree we are a little stressed at the minute! If you didn’t know sheet masks aren’t my favourite because they just don’t fit my face good. But I still give them a go in the hunt for the best one.
Packaging, simple really as the brand is named. I actually like products that are simple and straight to the point. But detailed a little plainly and to the point. Using Simple’s brand colours, white, greens and purple. Tells you all you really need to know from the front of the packet. Simple floral and leaf doodle around the edge, again using their colours. Really like it.
The instructions are written and in picture form. A good move for any face mask. Somehow, sometimes pictures are easier to understand than wording. What I mean it’s easier to show in the picture how to do that step over a simple sentence. I guess that works both ways. Everything from time to wear, what to do and all the have to haves are on the back.
Simple’s Ultra Calming Sheet mask is meant to be a weekly fix for soothed and hydrated skin. Using natural fibres and organic hemp seed oil. It is meant to replenish 16 days work of moisturiser in just one use! That is crazy. This is suitable for all skin types and definitely sensitive skin.
Now for the trying the mask on. But before we get into the actual mask. A little disclaimer, like most I am working from home now during the pandemic. I tend to whack these face masks and what not on throughout the day whilst I work. Or during lunch. Hence why I have mascara and eyeliner on. They are the only makeup I wear 9-5.
Really easy to open the mask and the instructions were simple and well worded/drawn to make the process good. The packet had a lot of liquid in it, most of which was attached to the mask. A good thing, meaning that was all going to go on to my face and skin.
I always find putting on a sheet mask the hardest. The sheets are always on the sticky side, which it should be or there would be no point! But it’s the fit that just seems to bother me. To be honest and fair I actually thought I did a good job with this sheet mask and there wasn’t too many wrinkles. My skin is typically drier under the cheek bones and on my t zone. The folds tend to form across the cheek bone. Which would be where I need the mask the most.
Anyway, I didn’t have to fiddle around for long and seemed to smooth the forehead completely out, then my left cheek. I think on my next one, I will work down my face rather than top, side to side. See if that helps.
The mask had so much liquid to it which is super good. You have to think that if its got 16 days worth of moisturiser in it, then it should have a fair amount. When I was happy with the mask, I smoothed it down my neck a little. Just so that it would hold and not drip down onto the keyboard. Thank god no virtual chats took place this week, like last.
Always check the instructions for timing mostly. Some masks like to surprise you. If you go over the time that is ok and will do nothing different that it would. But under the time is pointless unless it is 30 seconds or something like that. This mask is a 15 minute wear which is pretty average for sheet mask.
Fifteen minutes goes by pretty fast. You can do absolutely anything with a sheet mask on. So you can’t say you don’t have time for skincare! The house work, cook a meal or start it at least. A chapter or two of a book, a YouTube video, tv programme anything!! Ok I worked for mine but normally I would chill with a book or programme.
Click your fingers and it’s time to take off. Sheet masks are so easy to remove. Take an edge and peel off. The instructions state for you to massage in so your skin absorbs the excess of the product. Mine had quite a lot to absorb. But I did massage it in a lot, then patted my skin gently just incase of a call. If I was off to bed or chill out, I’d just leave my face glowing whilst it absorbed it all properly.
Now I have to say that my skin is in pretty good condition and has been for a couple weeks. But based on my skin being normal, this really has worked. My skin really is clear, clean and smooth. Even through a camera screen I can tell how good my skin looks. No blemishes, no dry patches, nothing. It is amazing. Really healthy looking skin.
It states it will keep my skin hydrated for up to 48 hours. This is say 42 hours as I am typing this and its still in really good condition. The only place that feels dry is my lips but obviously they weren’t in the mask.
If you are thinking how can it replenish your skin to the equivalent of 16 days of moisturiser? Well I can tell you it does. This mask is amazing. I love it. It does as it tells you, its going to and what more can you really ask for? Everyone needs that hydration boost and most weekly. For my skin as it is now I could do this twice a month I reckon and feel really good still. All depends on your skin type.
Price is £2.99, which is cheap for a sheet mask. Yes there are cheaper ones but they average around £5 a mask mostly. In boots they have this on a 3 for 2 offer, both in stores and online at the moment so would be worth picking up a few to save more money.
The only thing I would love to see is either the mask come in different sizes. As in S, M, L or in halves. Top and bottom of face because that sheet mask fitted me so much better. Other than that go get this mask, its amazing. Nothing overly to fault other than size. Really does as it says it would and I recommend everyone and anyone to go get this mask. Give it a try and you’ll see how amazing it is for yourself.
What is your go to mask at the minute? Do you have these problems of sheet masks not fitting to?
