face mask friday

It is Friday, I am so ready for the weekend aren’t you? Not that I really know which day is what and the date could be anything. But Friday’s are good, especially after an emotional, stressful week. Every Friday I review a different face mask for you all as part of my face mask Friday series, but it also gives me the weekly boost as part of my skincare routine. Most masks are for my skin type, normal to dry but others just take my fancy and they get reviewed as well.

This week’s mask is by the brand Saturday Skin. A brand that is completely new to me. And if I am honest I brought this on beauty bay because it was a mask that took my fancy. Well the holographic packaging anyway! Their Cotton Cloud Probiotic Power mask is meant to leave you with the feeling of being on cloud nine. The mask is soaked in a nourishing blend of probiotic essence and niacinamide. It is meant to cling seamlessly and softly to your face. With a creamy formula that melts into your skin, promoting hydration, replenishing moisture and boosting the look. For a healthy, radiant complexion.

Like I mentioned this mask took my fancy with its holographic colouring to the package. It is really simple and basic. The fine curves to the top to resemble clouds and the branding and the name. Two emoji looking clouds floating under the brand name, outlined in copper. They have cleverly used the holographic colouring to make the product engage you to it. Even to just look at it now online its the shimmers of colour that are standing out. If you are clever enough to make the product stand out like this, you really don’t have to overcrowd it. Simple is good for me, but with the catch of colour to make you stop and say hello!

The back of the package is a little more basic, white with black writing. It sort of is a little boring compared the the front. But realistically who reads all the information on the back. Do you? Because I certainly don’t. Most of its is boring to me. Straight away when I turned it over I saw that everything was written and my eyes went straight to the directions. Ingredients are another thing that some will look at but realistically that is all you need to read, unless you have an allergic reaction or something!

Always do read the instructions because that is where masks like to throw you a little. Timings and how to start in particular. But I would always so a mask is ok to keep on longer than the time but under then its pointless. Some really do throw you and once one said 1 minute to leave on. I had to google it to make sure because really want works in 1 minute. This is a sheet mask, not my favourite kind of mask as many of you already know. There has to be the perfect one out there though.

Tonight’s mask asked me to start with a cleansed and toned face. Now I have to say that I purely have mascara and eyeliner on when I used this mask. Purely because I don’t wear much makeup, I didn’t do my day time moisturiser knowing this mask was going to be worn and I did this in my lunch break because its been a hectic week.

skincare

So my face was clean and ready to go. The directions state to leave on for 20 minutes which is ample of time when you have an hours lunch! Now I do have to say the directions on the actual pack aren’t overly clear. Sort of as if it’s missing a step or just hoping everyone knows what to do and not new to masks.

When I was taking the sheet mask out, it was over the tear line. Which was annoying and slightly difficult to push back down. I was scared to tear the actual sheet mask for 1 but luckily the pack wouldn’t tear through the mask. It just stopped to see if I could push the mask down a little more. Once I had fully torn it open the mask was there and so was a lot of the moisture from this mask.

The missing step then appeared when I opened the mask up and there was a webbed layer to it. Now I am not new to masks so I new to take off. This is a guard basically to trap the goodness to the sheet. But I can really see that being a problem to others. It is weird though because I always go back to the website, of course to link the product but the directions online include this where as my packet didn’t.

It asks you to apply the sheet mask and smooth out to allow it to contour your face. This is ok but again sheet masks and me just don’t get along. I have had face masks that look like origami the time I have finished applying it to my face. As you can tell there are a few folds in the mask which is ok, because I have had a lot where the folds don’t help my skin at all.

skincare

Once I was ok with how the mask sat and the bare minimum of folds were there. It was time to go relax. What can you do in 20 minutes? Being I was really busy at work, I needed to reply to messages and chill out. 20 minutes goes really fast and there is so much you can do in that time. That is really why skincare is for everyone and you can’t say you don’t have time. For me today 20 minutes was a chilled out, reply to friends and play cards. Other times I watch YouTube or tidy the kitchen. You really can do anything or nothing whilst the mask is on.

skincare

I did leave this mask on for longer, purely because I lost track of time. But I would say it was on for half hour max. So not drastically over. The only thing that seems to work with me and sheet masks, is the removing of them. Easy as peeling them off from top to bottom.

skincare

When the mask is off, it leaves a glow of due to your skin. The directions ask for you to gently massage in. It says pacifically to not wash off. To be fair there was enough to rub in to my skin so I was fine with massaging in and down my neck as well. I didn’t need to even think about washing it off, though I ever so slightly dabbed with a flannel. Purely because I was going back to work and not bed. If it was the other way round then I would of left it.

skincare

My skin was left feeling amazing. Slightly on the sticky side to begin with but about an hour if that after my skin was totally fine. Glowing and looking healthy. So soft and smooth. Which really means that this mask works amazingly.

skincare

The average sheet mask is around £5 and this is £4.50. So pretty affordable for most budgets. We all need that boost of hydration from time to time and this 100% gives you it. If you were to use this once a week or maybe even twice a month with daily moisturiser daily as well. I would say this would do the trick. Of course your skin changes as the seasons do, so you would have to adapt to how your skin is.

skincare

I honestly can’t fault this mask. If I was, it would purely be that it’s a sheet mask. Seriously if socks, underwear and glasses can come in sizes why can’t masks. Everyone is built differently, I know I have a small head because I still fit into my Childs riding hat. But it really can’t be that hard to have sizes. Personally I would love sheet masks if they came in sizes. Or they were looked at to be able to fit better.

Really though this mask is amazing and I do recommend it. Do you have a favourite mask at the minute?
