face mask friday

Even if we don’t know what day of the week it is anymore, it is time for face mask Friday. And I think I have found the best sheet mask around!! If you are new around here, hello, welcome. Every week I try, test and review a different mask. Most of them are to suit my skin type, normal to dry but others just wow me enough to just buy them anyway! Skincare is for everyone and should be so important. You look after your health right? Then look after your skin to, for its always on show.

This week’s mask is by Sanctuary Spa. A brand that isn’t new to me but one I actually don’t think I have used before! It is a purifying charcoal based bubble sheet mask. We all know that sheet masks and me don’t do well together. So I am really interested to fine one that is perfect for me. The mask is combined with the detoxifying duo of charcoal and purifying oxygen, which helps to deeply cleanse the pores and purify the skin, to leave your skin looking revitalised. Helps to dislodge skin clogging dirt, grime and pollution and allow it to wash away easier.

Let’s talk packaging. Though the colours are dark, I feel a sort of calming, relaxed feeling to it. Almost spa like if that makes sense. The simple navy blue background with the bubbles of whites, black and rose gold. Bubbles to express the bubbles from the mask. The out line of a lady on a third of the pack in rose gold. Laying or standing with the mask on. I think the navy and rose gold really go well together. Bringing that calming, relaxed feel to this mask. Not all masks tell you the wear time on the front but this one does.

On the back are the instructions and the have to haves. Instructions are written only. Looking and reading the front of the pack you wouldn’t know this was a two part mask would you? And until yesterday when I was going to put this on, that I found out it was. Always good to read the instructions just to make sure of the timings and how to apply, take off.

Being this was the first time I used this mask, I started with a clean, dry face. Straight from the bath. Knot wrap on to keep the baby hairs from getting trapped. It was time to put this mask on. I read this is a 2 part mask. Me thinking then that after the first I’d do a second something. But no the mask is in 2 parts.

Having the mask in 2 parts ready to apply, was so amazing and a genius idea. Why has no one else thought of this or doing so?! With bubble masks, as soon as you take them out to apply they start bubbling. I applied the smaller part first. Still not sure which was meant to go on first but anyway. This was starting to bubble as I took the lower layer out the pack.

I placed the top piece on my forehead, around my temples and down my nose. The fit was amazing! Easier to smooth out and fit properly. Hardly if not any creases were there. Then placing the other half on to cover the rest of my face. Finding it weird that this too had the nose covered. Which way is correct to go under and other is your guess. Mine was the top half on first then the lower half. Again hardly any, if at all any creases. Ever so slight pucker under the chin but that was it. Such an amazing way to get the mask to fit well.

Then it was off for 10 minutes whilst the mask worked its magic. Though it had already started when I was putting on the lower half! Bubble masks are weird because you start out with a sheet mask that is purely black, in this case. And after the 10 minutes its like you have dunked your face in the bubble bath! These 10 minutes are when you can go do what you want. Whatever that may be. Read a book, watch some tele, do some house work. Anything!!

10 minutes go by very quickly. As I sat there waiting for this mask to work, it felt like I had popping candy all over my face. Sort of tickling and I guess it’s the bubbles bubbling up out of the actual mask. I just played a few rounds of the card game addiction. Which I have to say I am now addicted to.

When the time was up, as the instructions said to remove and with warm water and a cloth, to lightly wash away. Bubble masks for me normally leave me with a clear layer of the mask. This one looked like I had applied sun cream on too thickly that it wouldn’t absorb into my skin. But as the instructions said I washed it off gently. Did massage a little of it in before though because it was like that needed to be there for a reason. And that was the mask. It asks you to follow your normal skincare routine after and apply your normal moisturiser.

I am so happy with this mask and for so many reasons!! Because the glow was too shiny it has really helped to reduce that but keep my skin at its best. You don’t want too much of a mask because it can reverse the goodness. Hence why my t-zone has been on the oiler side.

I was told this mask helps to reduce the extra oils. Which was a must for me. FaceTiming all the time and seeing the glow of my forehead really wasn’t the best!! Even working from home I still put that effort in to look my best.

Having 2 parts to this mask has really helped as well. If you don’t get on with sheet masks like me. Go get this mask. Honestly so much easier having 2 halves and the room to smooth the actual sheet out across your face. Not having all the bunched up mask in certain areas folded. When the sides of the top met the top of the lower I was so happy that they just blended and the fit. Just so good.

This mask is £5 so pretty average for a sheet mask. Most masks average around £5 so 100% affordable and I really would rather pay £5 on this than something that doesn’t work to your face shape. We all need a detox and clean out from the to time and this 100% does what it says it should.

My skin was a little red after I washed the mask off. But even now it’s in such good condition. Really clean, clear and no where feels oily or too dry. The right amount to lift the oily extra and keep the perfect amount I needed. It still amazes me how the bubbles just form and cover your face but it works and that is all you want it to do. Otherwise why are you buying this mask?

100% get this mask. I am now going to see if I can find more 2 part sheet mask. What is your go to mask at the minute?
