face mask friday

It’s Friday, the weekend is here and it’s time for a little skincare. A perfect start to the weekend. Skincare is so important and one of the reasons, I share all these reviews. But also because it is now part of my routine and is really benefiting my skin. Most masks I try are for my skin type, normal to dry and all reviews are my own honest opinion.

This week’s is by one of my favourite skincare brands, Oh K! I honestly love Oh K! As a brand, its so good and I always look for more to try and use. Though most of their masks are sheet masks, something I don’t get on with, they seem to work well. Today I am trying their soothe and relax, beauty sleep sheet mask. It is a mask that is meant to give your skin a beauty sleep glow. Soaked in essences to help you relax before bed. Enriched with lavender and chamomile to calm and soothe your skin. Hyaluronic acid to help lock in the moisture and should allow you to wake up looking refreshed and revitalised.

As I just mentioned, this is a sheet mask but I am all for trying them. You never know one could bet the top spot off my list of recommendations. I love Oh K’s packaging. All their masks have the cutest little panda, mostly peeping over the top, trying to say Hello. Oh K is a Korean skincare brand, they have the writing in Korean and English. This week’s being a beauty sleep themed mask, has a galaxy theme to the packet. Stars and a shimmer of purples and blues.

The back of mask packs are the most boring. Oh K always put “happiness everyday: it is just cute and really happiness should be everyday. Their panda sits at the bottom holding the sign, “against animal testing’. Something I look for in most products. Eventing else is the ingredients, have to haves and the instructions. Instructions are super important to read. They are written and in picture form on this. Which I use to love but the more I look at pictures, sometimes they make the instruction a little harder to understand.

Let’s get on to trying the mask. The only good thing about sheet masks, they don’t have many steps. Pull the sheet out and apply basically. You need a dry, clean face. I would advise to tie your hair up and a knot wrap to keep all out of the way. Nothing worse than getting your hair stuck in a face mask.

What is annoying for me, is that sheet masks are too big for my face. Hence why I try my best to fit it well enough. Then go off to chill. Sheet masks might be your best friend, but for me they really aren’t mine. To fit anyway. The masks have slits in the sides, to allow you to contour the mask to your skin. Mine overlap too much and in the wrong places. So I played a bit and left it to work its magic.

This is a 10-20 minute mask. What can you do in 20 minutes? For me masks are a time to relax, so a YouTube video or a chapter of my book. But 20 minutes, I could cook my dinner, hoover or some sort of house work. I have even sat at the computer working with a mask on. From home of course! No body can say they don’t have time for skincare, just multitask if you have to. If it’s when you are working, just make sure you don’t have any meetings!

Fast forward 20 minutes, it’s time to take the mask off. I would say try leave the mask on for its longest recommendation. If not longer, if you feel you have more to absorb from it. Mine was pretty well absorbed and worked in the 20 ish minutes. So I removed it. The easiest thing with a sheet mask. Peel off and you are done.

The instructions ask you to gently massage in the rest left on your face. But if you are going straight to bed, I would say leave as much as you can. Because it can absorb longer overnight. I did rub it in a little but left a glow that could work overnight.

It is two days after now and I slept amazingly the night I did this. But I also have the softest and healthiest skin. Though the mask doesn’t say you will have a good night’s sleep, I did and it was amazing. Really deep and relaxed. I woke up fresh and ready for another days work, ready to go and work hard.

Would I recommend this mask? Yes, it’s scented and powerful. So maybe if you don’t like lavender and chamomile in scent. It probably isn’t for you. As soon as opened it, the smell was really strong. Other than that yes it works.

The only another thing is that I dislike about this mask, is that the minute it was tucked under my chin, the mask leaked and dripped down my neck. I felt like I needed a towel under me to let it drip onto. Again this could be because sheet masks don’t fit me properly.

skincare

Though I have mentioned, sheet masks aren’t my favourite. It’s only the way they sit and how I apply them. Other than that, its a cheaper and wider range in skincare and it works to what it says. This mask is £4, so similar to the average sheet mask. They are around £5. This makes it affordable.

Oh K are a vegan and cruelty free brand as well. A real must for me and this is another good product from the Korean skincare range Oh K!. Always look for the cute little panda.

What is your go to mask at the minute?
