It feels like forever and a day since I have written a review on a face mask. But I am back, I apologise I have been mega busy but I still do have that love for skincare. Looking after myself, mentally and physically. Skincare is really important and that is why I write these to help others buying and using the right masks for them and in a more in-depth review. Most are for my skin type which is normal to dry but others just take my fancy and end up in the basket as well.
This week’s mask is by one of my favourite skincare brands. Oh K is a Korean skincare brand and are vegan and cruelty free. Which is amazing and something to look out for. Today’s mask I am reviewing is their Hydrating Watermelon sheet mask. This is a revitalising biodegradable sheet mask that delivers a thirst quenching boost of hydration to the skin. It is plant based sheet soaked in a super hydrating serum formulated with watermelon and hyaluronic acid. Vitamin C is included which helps the skin appear brighter. Watermelon extract is one of the key ingredients that is super hydrating and rich in antioxidants to help combat free radicals. The hyaluronic acid draws water from the air to hydrate the skin.
Oh K place the cutest panda on all of their products which is to share they are cruelty free and none are tested on animals. Something that I look for in any products. What do you think of when you think of watermelon? For me its holidays and pink, mouth watering watermelon. That is what the cover is really, chopped up, pink watermelon triangles with the pips. Honestly I think if you have a well known brand or a brand that does well and does as it says it should, then you don’t have to put a lot into the packaging. I would and will pick up Oh K products all the time based on my knowledge of the quality of their product. The cute panda makes me think cute and want to add to my basket anyway.
The back of the packaging is boring and I literally only read the directions. For this the directions are only in picture form. Sometimes it is good to have both picture and written directions because one or the other isn’t clear enough as to what I have to do. Sheet masks are all pretty similar. If you can only understand the timings to wear then I think you would be ok. It would be step 1 of this that would throw me a little. Oh K always have the cutest phrase on all their packaging, `happiness everyday’ other than the cute panda of course!
On to the mask, starting with a clean, dry face I took the mask from the packet. Be careful because there is a lot of liquid in this pack! Push the mask down a little before opening because the extra contents will leak. Opening the actual sheet mask was ok though, no dripping but the edges were stuck well down together.
I applied this to my face. If you have followed for a while, you will know sheet masks and I are like marmite. You either love them or hate them. Now they do do good things, don’t get me wrong but the fit is awful. They really need to invest in different sizes because someone like me with a smaller face, needs a smaller mask or the folds are huge and the tash line of the mask is below your lips.
Now with sheet masks I just whack them on and I play around for 2 minutes max, just to make the folds less bulky and smooth out most across my face. Then it’s time to go chill out. Or whatever you can do in 20 minutes. I was actually on my lunch break when I did this, so I just hung out watching television. But 20 minutes for me can make me a dinner, hoover the whole flat quickly, catch up with a friend, all sorts. So yes skincare is for everyone, just multitask if you cannot make the time!!
Twenty minutes fly by really and then its time to take off. The easiest part of the mask. I peel off a corner and pull the rest off my face in one go. Easy as. Normally there is quick a bit of the contents on my face after removal but today I was surprised to see hardly any. It means the mask has done its job and maybe my skin was already at a higher level of hydrated than normal.
They ask you to just gently massage the rest in, in circles and leave to absorb. I didn’t have a lot but it is worth doing. My skin was left with a lovely healthy glow. Which means this did its job 100%. It has been a week since and my skin is in perfect condition still. Not too dry or oily. The perfect amount.
This mask is £4 which is pretty average for a sheet mask. Most range around £5 and based on this being a one use mask, it’s reasonable. To be fair all of the products from Oh K have been really affordable. Making their brand more user friendly and to a wide range of people.
Honestly the only thing I wish for in a sheet mask is for it to do its job, which this does. But to also fit me. I am done of the days where I use to try so hard to fold it neatly and make the fit work. Now it’s bung on and go. Everyone needs a hydration boost every now and again and this certainly will give you it.
As their brand states ‘ happiness everyday’ and their products do, do that in skincare form. Go buy this mask today! What is your go to face mask at the minute?
