Happy face mask Friday everybody. Its the start of the weekend (hooray!!) and I am starting with a cosy evening in and a little pamper. Every Friday I review a different mask for you all, one because skincare is for everyone and two because why not give you my opinion on the mask. This week’s mask is all for the eyes and this is the first eye mask to feature in my weekly face mask review.
This week’s mask is by Nip + Fab, no needle fix eye mask. Eyes are super important and can change in so many ways if not taken care of. Under my eyes always seem darker than the rest of my face. I really should do more for my eyes other than my normal face cream and mask weekly. It excites me to focus on my eyes and help them a little more.
The mask is a hydrogel goggle eye mask, which targets fine lines and wrinkles. Its anti-wrinkle and anti-aging and plumps and rejuvenates your skin.
Let’s talk packaging. I love the bright blue colour with the simple grey and white detailing. The bright blue is powerful to make this stand out on the shelf. To be fair the packaging is simple with shapes the mask shape and tells you exactly what you need to know.
As always I read the instructions, you really can’t tell how to use a mask or timings because they always change. This mask is a 20 minute leave on and go. The instructions did confuse me a little and still now I am none the wiser what I had to do or if I used this mask correctly. It is simple you open the packet take the mask out and apply the gel side to your face. So that sounds easy and good. Well then it tells you take a fabric layer off but there was nothing to take off to leave the mask as it should be.
Skincare is super important to me and should be for everyone. If you think about it your face is always on show. My skin type is normal to dry and due to the weather being colder, my skin is becoming drier. Why wouldn’t you take care of your skin, when you do your teeth and your eyes? You can’t even say you have no time for masks and skincare. All it is is apply and go off do whatever you want. The housework, watch tv, cook dinner anything!
I started with a clean, cleansed face and took the mask out of the packet, which had a lot of liquid in. The mask came out with the right amount to be fair and it wasn’t too slimy. Like I mentioned earlier the mask instructions confused me a lot and I applied this as I would any other mask but just round my eyes. It says to stick gel side to face and remove the top layer of fabric. To me that was impossible and the top layer wasn’t even able to be removed. So I left it on and went with it.
Sheet kind of masks aren’t the best for me because they never fit good enough. This one just being for around the eyes I thought would be better and to some extent it was. Either I have a small face or extremely bad at applying sheet masks. Though this was ok, there were a few folds around the side and the sides of my nose hung a little off my face.
Then I went and chilled for 20 minutes. Read for a while and chilled out. That is why I said you can do anything with a mask on. Take the rubbish out if you are that daring.
When the time was up, I went back into the bathroom to remove. I touched the outer layer of the mask and it was dry and like my face had absorbed all the goodness. Normally sheet masks are still a little slimy when you remove them. So easy to remove and just pull off with ease.
Following the instructions, it tells you to gently massage in the remaining mask left on your face. This was really easy because the correct amount was left on my face and I had no trouble having masses of the liquid to massage in. It was perfect and left a nice glow to my face.
Today, the day after my around my eyes feel so good. Under my eyes feel plump and better than they have in a while. The only downfall I would say is my eyes have been itchy and irritated all day. When the mask was on, because my face is smaller than others my lower eyelashes got caught. I freed them straightaway and made sure that the mask felt comfortable. Because my eyes have been irritated, especially the left one. Constantly feeling like I had something in my eye, I even went to the bathroom to look several times. Even now after a bath and wash, the left eye especially feels sore and irritated.
This mask has definitely done what it was meant to do, but for me I won’t be buying this again, based on the fact my eyes are irritated. Why would I buy it if it’s going to cause me to have itchy eyes again? That could just be my skin and allergies. I can’t 100% say it was the mask but it would suggest it to be the reason.
Recommending this mask. Yes if your eyes need work on or a little more attention use it. Just be super careful of your eyes and make sure the mask is fitted with a bigger gap around your eyelids. Your eyes do get most things or shows more when ageing and if health problems or not enough sleep even. A simple boost such as this mask can do wonders when you’re not doing your best.
I want to try more eye masks out and find one that doesn’t annoy my eyes. Nip and Fab is a brand I have used before and will use again but for this exact mask I wouldn’t. They are a good brand, their products are normally really good and ones I would always look at and purchase in a shop or online.
Price wise its £6 so its a pretty stand mask price. Most sheet masks in particular range from £5-£8, though this is an eye mask its still a good price. It’s just not for me and my sensitive skin.
What is your go to mask at the minute? Any you would suggest for me to try?
