Hey! Happy face mask Friday everyone. I am back with another face mask review for you all. It is finally the weekend and time to destress, relax and enjoy. If you are new around here, welcome every week I try and review a different mask. Kind of like try before you buy but I am trying it for you instead. Giving a in-depth review and opinions of my own about the mask. More of a real review rather than the ones you get when you go to buy the product. Most masks I try are suited for my skin type, normal to dry. But some masks just grab my attentions, so I have to give them a go as well.
Anyway this week I am back with another MAD Beauty Disney mask. In form of the 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella De Vil. It is a coconut oil based sheet mask. For those of you who don’t know I am still on the hunt for a good sheet mask. One that actually fits my face better than 100 folds! Coconut oil is good for so many things, such as cooking, baking, beauty and health. The nourishing properties of coconut oil makes your skin feel good and look good.
The packaging. I love Disney personally and so I love the front cover. Its simple background of plum purple and black floral print, I don’t fully know if that matches the Cruella feel to the pack. But Cruella is there in true style in her Dalmatian coat. Again the light pink hand writing text “ Cruel is cool” I am just not sure its villain enough for her. Pink and floral is more what I would class as girly, good and pretty.
All the have too’s and instructions are on the back of the pack. The best part about instructions are when they are in both written and picture form like these are. Always read the instructions because some masks like to fool you. Some timings are a little crazy but most are average. This is a 10-12 minute leave on mask. One step, which is the first is a rare thing about a face mask. That is that you need to start with a slightly wet face. Most are a clean, cleansed, dry face.
Another slight difference with MAD beauty Disney masses is that the sheet mask isn’t just in the pack on its own. But it has a sheet on it to keep all the goodness in the mask ready for your face. I like this factor about the mask. It is easier to handle, so you don’t have to wash your hands once you’ve just got the mask out the pack!
Sheet masks are so annoying to me and I can never get them to fit good enough for my standards. Hence why I am still on the hunt for a good sheet mask. Its good they have the slits that can help you smooth the mask out but the areas I need most the attention in, then are gaped up in a couple of folds. Not allowing the goodness of the mask to enter my skin.
Once I had washed my face a little and it was slightly wet, I played around with this mask to get it to fit me as much as it would. Now the mask doesn’t really shout Cruella to me, more like a Halloween skeleton. But we went with it. You can see by my photos that folds are mainly around my philtrum and along the sides of my cheeks. I wish that the philtrum folds were flatter or able to spread out tucking in elsewhere.
After enough playing around, it was time to relax. This is where no body can say they don’t have time for skincare. Because with a mask on you can do pretty much anything around the home. House work, relax in front of the television, have a bath, cook the dinner. Anything. Those 10-15 minutes have so much potential to multi task. Plus you’d rather good, healthy skin right?
For me I watched television and chilled out. Time passes quicker than you think to be honest. And before you know it it is time to take it off again. Looking like a ghost or skeleton, not Cruella De Vil it was time to peel the mask off. Simple as, find a corner and peel off.
This mask left a lovely even layer of the mask across my face. Simply just have to massage it in a little and watch the glow appear. It didn’t take too much to massage in the extra but I did leave my face with a little still to absorb being I was just chilling on the sofa for the evening. The instant glow was amazing. Some just dry up instantly and it is like peeling off a newspaper from your face.
Even today the day after, my face feels amazing. So soft and smooth. No rough patches and none of my face is too oily either. Which means the mask worked to its full potential and didn’t go overboard. That is really want you want from a mask. To repair, restore and keep your skin looking its best.
Would I recommend this mask? It is priced at £4 and that is a pretty average price for a sheet mask. One use mask. Coconut oil is so good for you and really doesn’t help my skin. Based on it being a sheet mask to nourish and hydrate your skin it is perfect. Anyone could and can use this because we all need a boost every now and again if not more often! 10 minutes is no time at all and for me it left a good amount of goodness on my face to still absorb which is another good point about this mask.
I feel though that people would buy this more for the “Disney” branding to it. 100% the cover is the only Cruella De Vil thing about the mask. Maybe buy this more for Halloween. It must be hard to portray a character on to a sheet mask, but I feel they have done this better on so many of the other characters that this really does disappoint me. Even folded up and on my face its just lines and skeleton like. The red rings under the eyes, I mean they are just shouting halloween to me.
If you are looking for a good sheet mask to nourish and hydrate your face, using coconut oil then purchase this. But if it’s because it’s Disney based don’t. So many more of their masks really do portray the characters more than this.
What is your go to mask at the minute? One you would recommend to me?
