face mask friday

Happy face mask Friday everyone! Especially now autumn is here to stay, the darker evenings and colder weather are the perfect time for a cosy pamper evening. Snuggle up on the sofa and stay warm in front of the fire. Who’s going out today? Or you in for a cosy evening like me? To be fair I am all for a casual chilled evening any night but especially Fridays after a long week at work. I also write Sunday’s blog posts on Friday nights. How rock and roll is that? Face mask, pyjamas, a blanket and my Mac book. Perfect for me!

Every Friday I bring a different face mask review for you. Not only can you see if this mask is worth the money but also to see of an honest review on it. My skin type is normal to dry, so I am all for masks to help that but if they interest me I will be there for them too. I am a lover for masks you can apply over sheet masks purely because sheet masks are just too huge for my face. There must be one out there for me so I am still on a hunt for it. Peel off masks fascinate me so that’s why I am trying and reviewing this charcoal peel off mask for you.

charcoal

Charcoal is something that really is a trend for beauty. It’s everywhere because it’s meant to be really good for you. This peel off mask is meant to help to detoxify, purify and deep cleanse your face. To draw out the dirt and oils you don’t need lingering around. Its peel off which is amazing and one I always try to peel off in one.

Like always I look at the packaging and the instructions. It’s always good to do so because masks vary always, timings, ingredients, how to apply and what to do. You’d be surprised sometimes when it says 1 minute or an hour when most are 10-20 minutes. Today’s mask is a 20-30 minute or until the mask is completely dry.

A lot of people have told me to get a brush for face masks but really I am not loving using the brush. My fingers get a better coverage but each to their own. I will give a few more tries. Of course my hair is in a top knot and a knot wrap round the front so all my hair is out of my face.

When I went to open the package, the opening really wasn’t overly obvious but tore open easily. To start I had just got out the shower so my face was dry and clean. I have a few dry break outs but otherwise my skin is in an ok condition.

The mask is like sticky, runny tar when you apply it. Its so cool really to think something like this can really help your skin! It does spread well but the you need a lot for a good coverage. Does that even make sense? Avoid eyes, mouth, hair line and eyebrows. You really don’t want to wax your brows off when you do a face mask!

Applying this mask was easy. I always apply to my cheeks first. Not sure why but I do. But I do. If its the brush that made me apply more or what but I felt like I needed to put two layers on for the best coverage. Took a maximum of 5 minutes to apply, really as easy as that.

skincare

Along the bottom of my left cheek I have a blemish or patch of the driest skin. Whatever I do, apply it won’t go. Well I just applied the mask on this because it didn’t look or feel broken. Oh my did that sting but I kept the mask on it anyway.

After I was happy with the amount of mask on my face, its that time to chill. You really can’t say you don’t have time for a mask because I am pretty sure you cook dinner, watch a programme, read a book or whatever it may be. That time is vital for your skin. Why not look after your skin as you do your health, teeth and eyes? Think of it as this. Your skin is on show everyday, like all the time, whether you are 15 or 80 your skin is and should be important. Age with beauty.

I kept this on for half hour. Really easy for me because my evenings are chilled or working on content for my blog and youtube channel. Give me a good tv programme, YouTube video or even a podcast and I can sit/lay around.

The challenge, I challenge myself to do with every peel off mask, is to peel it off in one go. This may sound easy but it’s not. There is always a patch that is stuck too much or the mask breaks where the layer isn’t even. Achievement is that when you peel it off in one go. Ok you get them little bits that just stick but I have to say I am super happy for this coming off in one go! I did have a little on my nose and in random areas but by that I mean the tiniest amount.

For the scraps I use wet a flannel with warm water and washed my face. Simple as. Then it’s done. Easy peasy. You really don’t even to put much effect in to get the small scraps left because a simple wipe with a flannel removed them.

When I had finished cleaning my face and was off to do whatever. My skin just felt a little sore, I guess like a layer of skin had come off. Which most probably happened. Your skin needs cleaning and really this is just helping you. But the red patches were a little like wow ok. The breakout on my cheek was red raw. So maybe don’t put it on that breakouts.

skincare

Today the day after my skin feels ok. My t-zone especially is really good, all sorted and the best condition. Its my dry patches that just don’t feel any better. This morning I put on oil and cream but still now its still annoying and visible. No body has mentioned that to me and so it must not show that much or they are being polite. But I just know it’s there and it’s uncomfortable. Thats not the right word but its just me knowing its there and I do feel it on my skin.

skincare

This mask is ok. I wouldn’t say its an amazing charcoal mask because I have used others. Has it worked? Well actually yes I could say it has being that my face felt like a layer of “dirt” was removed so my face feels cleaner.

skincare

I think I need a boost of hydrating and moisturising masks and maybe for me this mask would have been better if I had topped up too much in hydration. The more you have, the better this mask would work. If my face didn’t have the breakouts of dryness then I could see it working better.

Out of 10 I would give this mask an 7. I just think this mask was just used at the wrong timing for me. Though my skin is normal to dry, with my skincare routine I am always caring for keeping it perfect. So this would remove the extra oils and dirt that just gets into your skin everyday! Based off my t-zone alone I can tell you I have the perfect balance of goodness and its not over powered the area leaving it dry.

What is your go to mask at the minute? One you would recommend me?
