It is Friday, finally the weekend and we can all chill and relax. Fridays for me and maybe many of you reading this, it is face mask Friday. A day that starts the weekend and perfect for a face mask. Every week I try, test and review a different face mask for you. Skincare is hugely important and should be for everyone. Naturally my skin is normal to dry, so most masks I get are for that skin type, but some others take my fancy as well and I review these as well.
This week’s mask is by Holika Holika. A brand I haven’t tried before, let alone even heard of. Tonight’s mask is their Pure Essence sheet mask called Pearl. Pearl is a mask to brighten your skin. The pure essence is a moisturising and softening mask, infused with pearl extracts to smooth and brighten the skin. Giving you a flawless radiant glow.
Let’s start with packaging. What do you think of when you think of pearls? Pretty right. There are 16 pearls on the front of the pack, in a square but showing the prettiest pearls in colour. Other than that the packaging is pretty simple. I found the open here bit really good actually because you don’t just tear the top open. It was really easy actually by opening at the corner it just ripped open as a resealable package would. This isn’t reusable! The main colour of the packaging is a salmon pink with a hint of blue some of the writing.
The back of the packaging is the instructions, ingredients and the has to haves on. Half of the back is in picture form and Korean. Won’t even guess try to read it. But I guess it is the same as the lower half which is in english. Though the English doesn’t have picture form directions. Most sheet masks though are simple to use. And of course a picture is the same for everyone. An important thing to check is the timing to leave on for. Some masks really throw you off with the times.
Following the directions, this mask needs you to have washed and applied a toner to tidy up your skin texture. Then take out the mask and put it on your face. Leave on for 10-20 minutes, remove and gently pat your skin to absorb the remaining of the mask. So that is what I did.
Simple as really. The packet opened super easily and the mask removed leaving a fizzy looking liquid in the pack. Not too much though as mainly it was on the mask. I even have to admit that applying this mask was really easy for me as well. Have I just found a sheet mask that fits well? It was amazing to put on and there wasn’t huge folds and overlay.
You can tell from the photos but there’s isn’t hardly any folds and overlays. This mask doesn’t even have the slits in it to get the folds. It runs smoothly pretty much over my full face. I would say the nose piece was a little too long, that would be my only thing.
This may sound random and weird. But do you know the smell of something fizzy? Because this mask has that smell. Like lemonade but its not lemonade. Really random I know but I would rather a mask that smells nice and fizzy than something clinical or strong powerful scents of citrus. I noticed the scent of fizziness when I first opened the packet and I was like wow.
Then I was off for 20 minutes. Chilling out watching videos. This is why skincare is for everyone. Nobody can say they don’t have time for skincare. Particularly now because we aren’t living our normal lives. Face masks don’t really stop you from doing anything. What can you do in 20 minutes? For my face masks are for relaxing in, pamper session. But you can cook the dinner, housework, read a chapter or two of a book, watch the tele, yoga, paint your nails. Anything.
Twenty minutes goes by with a click of your fingers. Then it is time to take off. As simple as this was to put on, is as simple as this is to take off. Peel it off from a corner and you are done. I guess depending how much your skin needed to absorb, is as how much is left on your skin. With this I just gently massaged it in. There wasn’t that much for me to massage in as a lot had been absorbed already. If you had too much I would just use a flannel after you had massaged it to take some excess off.
There are the finished results. Amazing glow right? This is actually a really nice mask. A bargain £1.95 which is very cheap. Most sheet masks average around £5. I could definitely tell the difference from before and after, my skin was really smooth and soft to touch.
The scent of this mask is beautiful. I love the fizzy smell. Which maybe weird to some but for me it is lovely. Though the mask had the right amount of goodness on it to work its magic. Weight wise it felt lighter than others.
Sheet masks are the hardest thing for me to apply as you may know already. Because I am still on the hunt for the perfect one. This mask today might have to be in competition for the top place, best sheet mask. The fit is amazing.
For what this mask is meant to do, to what it does is pretty much the exact same. I really can’t fault the mask one bit. My skin felt amazing and did for a couple days after as well. So bright and I had a radiant glow. The boost I needed.
Everything about this mask is amazing, really it is and I 100% recommend this for anyone. Such a bargain worth buying! What is your go to face mask at the minute?
