Well I haven’t been here in what feels like a long time. It is face mask Friday and let’s just say I really needed this mask. Skincare is really important to me but should be to everyone. Every Friday I review a different face mask for you all. This helps my skin and has become part of my routine, but also allows you to learn about masks before you buy. These are my own personal experiences and opinions though.
This week’s mask is by the well known brand Garnier. Though when thinking of Garnier, I tend to think of hair dye, I have use several of their face masks. Their night time deep sea water and hyaluronic acid eye sheet mask is the mask of choice this week and I have to say my eyes were certainly in need of it! The tissue mask is infused with an ultra light moisturising formula, enriched with deep sea water and natural origin hyaluronic acid. It only covers your eye area entirely for complete moisturisation.
As this is said to be a night time mask, you can see why Garnier have used the navy blue ombre packaging. A very night time colour. Like all Garnier masks, this has the circle splash of water, half blocked out with the branding and certain information to draw you to this mask. They have also used an image to show the mask going across your entire eyes.
Really the backs of face masks are boring. They are purely information that you have to read if you have an allergic reaction or an allergy to certain things. To be honest, I don’t read anything except the directions. As many directions, they are in picture form as well as written. I really benefit from both forms because sometimes one or the other is so much clearer than the other.
You have the option to keep this in the fridge before using and really if it was warmer or this flat heated better, I would of done so. But it’s freezing in here so I didn’t need the fridge. That is personal choice though but if you want it to have an extra cooling sensation, whack it in the fridge for a while.
The mask is folded up inside the packet and its really folded so when I pulled it out, I didn’t think I had took the whole mask out. But do remember it’s only for the eyes so will be smaller anyway! Direction wise, it asks you to apply to a clean face and I am pretty sure most before bed do have one.
Unfolding the mask was a little tricky as the sheet is very sticky. I couldn’t really tell which was the back or front to the mask but that was ok, as the contents spread on both sides.
I started by laying down on my bed and asked Alexa to set timer for 15 minutes. Yes you do take this off before you fall asleep. So do set that alarm. I’m pretty sure I would of nodded off if it wasn’t for my timer!
Easy as the unfolding, was the applying. I have a love hate relationship with sheet masks. They never fit good enough for my tiny face. This was slightly better but the nose part was ever so slightly too wide for my skinny nose. Luckily I could pinch it in a little.
Obviously my eyes were shut whilst applying this and so I really didn’t know if it laid right or what I looked like. But I did try to cover my eye area as much as possible. It was actually quite relaxing and chilled. I would say I wore this about an hour before bed and it was perfect.
Time went fast, it was weird to me to not be clock watching and trusting my alarm to go off. But it was peaceful and I actually took the time to meditate whilst it was on. I needed to meditate and destress badly anyway. Normally I would ask you what you could do in them 15 minutes? With your eyes closed though, its a little tricky to do anything! Other than lay and chill out.
When my timer went off, I just peeled the mask off. Easy as really. I walked from my bed to the bathroom to check out what my face looked like and if any needed massaging in. The sheet mask itself was just on the sticky side still. So I was surprised that I actually had some remaining to massage in on my face. A little massage in and my eyes and face were looking good.
Now I have to say that it has been a really emotional week. So even if they don’t look like it in the before photos, they were puffy and exhausted. That is why I thought out of all my masks, I would use this one this week and calm my eyes down.
Garnier didn’t disappoint with this mask. Though I felt relaxed and less puffy after this mask, today the day after I feel so much better and my eyes aren’t stinging and twitching. I am sure they look as good as I feel.
Though its weird and takes time to sit and have a mask covering your eyes, I honestly feel so much better for taking the time to do this. Meditation is something that really helps me and many say it’s a way that helps me because I can connect. But normally I don’t take enough time to do so. So I really benefited from this forcing my eyes to stay shut and giving me the time to sort my eyes out but also process a few things.
This mask is a bargain at £2.99, I know its a one use but for eye sheet masks, I haven’t used any that help as much as this has. Sheet masks are at an average of £5 really, so it is a bargain. Why would you want to spend more on something that Garnier can do for £3 basically and that works.
I 100% recommend this mask and I think the extra cooling in the fridge would actually help more. Naturally I am a freezing person and I am all for being warm. But I can equally see the benefits in cooling and calming your eyes from the chilled mask. Though it did do an amazing job not being in the fridge.
Everyone has them times when they need to calm the eyes. I am one that really suffers from hay fever and would use this a lot in the spring and summer. Purely for the emotions and my eyes hurting, this really helped me calm my face.
What is your go to mask at the minute?
