face mask friday

It is Friday of course and that means one thing. Time for me to review another face mask for you all. Skincare is really important to be and should be for everyone. Face mask Friday’s is a  chance for me to do part of my skincare routine but also a chance for me to try and tell what I think about the mask. Most are for my skin type normal to dry but some just take my fancy and join in with a review as well.

skincare

This week’s mask is from the brand Garnier and part of their moisture bomb range. The Sakura Hydrating Face Sheet Mask is the one I will be reviewing today. But I have reviewed a few of their others from this range. Garnier is a well known brand and one I have used for skincare and hair care as well. I would say that Garnier is more known for its hair products than any other, do you agree?

skincare

The mask is a hydrating tissue sheet mask inspired from Asia. Which acts to of course hydrate your skin. Infused with an intense glow boosting formula enriched with sakura extract and hyaluronic acid. A powerful hydrating active capable of retaining 1000 times its weight in water. It is meant to diffuses its glow boosting and hydrating benefits on your skin.

Packaged as many of Garnier sheet masks, in a square shaped pack. The pink inspired by the Sakura. Which flower is in the splash of water. Ombré through all the lighter shades of pink. Most of Garnier’s have the circle image in the middle. But split into semi circles. One really visible as the splash of water and the Sakura flower in. All the information, name, brand, etc on the other semi circle, forming the full circular shape.

On the back of the pack, it’s really clear and more approachable than many other brands. It has the usuals on, so what the mask is meant to do. Instructions, both written and in picture form and the ingredients. Many have too much writing and small prints on the backs of packaging. So this looks really clear and more invitable than others. The colours continue on the back and a bolder pink is used to highlight certain sections of the writing.

Always look at the instructions. Especially for what to start with and timing. These two can always throw you off. Some want a slightly damp face but this is like most and what’s a clean, dry face. Again timing you can always leave a mask on longer but too short is pointless. I have had masks that are literally on for 1 minute to half hour, 40 minutes. This is the very average time of 15 minutes.

sheet mask

To start with this mask has a blue protective layer on and that shows you that the side with with blue on is for the outside. Anyway starting with “gently apply on clean face with the blue protective film visible on the outside of your face.” A pointless step really. Because you then just take it off and this pulls the mask off as well. Or dislodges it from where you positioned it. You might as well take the protective layer off then apply to the face.

skincare

Due to the blue protective layer moving the actual sheet mask. I just started again. If you are new around here, you won’t know this but sheet masks are the bane of my life. They never can fit my face as I want them to. Though there is a round winner right now, I still want to find the perfect one and crown it the winner. Competition for the one in lead now.

skincare

This sheet mask has a few more slits than others which does make its slightly easier to get the mask to fit better. Also used the work down the face rather than forehead, then side to side. For hydrating masks especially I like it to work its best on my t-zone and along the lower edge of my cheeks. The folds always seem to be along the lower cheeks. Hence the annoyance of them.

skincare

Anyway when I was ok with how it sat on my face, my 15 minutes started. A time when you really can do anything. Hence why you really cannot say you don’t have time for skincare. It’s really valuable and worth while. For me I read a chapter or two of my book. But you can cook the dinner, watch the tv, dance, hoover, chill whatever you may feel like doing. The time goes fairly quickly and then its time to take off.

face mask

Removal of this mask was so easy. A good thing about sheet masks is that you just take a corner and pull off. All in one piece. As this one did. When I was about to pull this off, there was a lot left on the mask. By that I mean that not all the mask had sunk to my face and skin. Some masks do this but others are near enough dry. I guess this also depends on how your skin is, if it just needs a top up or is dry to the bone. Needing a lot of attention. Because my skin is actually in pretty good condition and I use this for the boost it needs.

skincare

When the mask was off, it left my face with an extra layer of the mask. Pretty natural for sheet masks. But I guess it also depends on your skins needs. The instructions give you two options on this. Which is fairly good. To take off with a cotton pad or massage in gently. Some they just want you to leave it, others to massage in gently. I massaged in as much as I could, down my neck as well. Then I used a flannel to wipe off what was left.

skincare

Recently most masks are really making me glow. Too much of a glow in my opinion. When I sat on teams calls I was shining. For many days after as well. This though gave me the glow my skin needed but didn’t over do it. The perfect amount of hydration my skin needed.

skincare

Now we are 5 days on and my skin is in such good condition. I have a slight spot above my right eyebrow. But otherwise nothing but perfect look of healthy, good skin. Spots are super rare for me and I didn’t even go through teenage acne so I wonder why the spot appeared. There is a lot going on in the world right now so maybe its a combination of things.

skincare

My opinions and review of this mask. Is it a good sheet mask? Let’s start with price, it is on offer now at £1.99 so a real bargain. Normally its £2.99 which is on the cheaper side of sheet masks. Sheet masks average around £5-£10. So this is reasonably priced.

skincare

I really don’t think the blue protective layer is worth it. Honestly it may protect whilst in the pack but on your face is pointless just to put the mask on. It is pointless. Why put it on your face, when you just have to adjust the mask after you remove it?

skincare

The mask its self does as it says it will and to the right level for what my skin needed. That is good and worth it. Garnier do have their products and ingredients right to do what they say they should. I have the right amount of goodness in my skin. On the packaging it states “ 1 mask = 1 week of hydrating active”. This is the case for me that 5 days after my skin is still happy and healthy.

skincare

It is a good mask and I really do think its worth it. I just wish that beauty and skincare brands especially would work on sizes or something. To make their products more user friendly to their customers. Yes everyone can use this and it has done its job. The fit of the mask just needs improving.

You should definitely try this mask. What is your go to mask at the minute?
