Happy face mask Friday! How is everyone this Friday? Are you one to go out every Friday or have a pamper evening. Now that the fall is here, its colder in the UK and I am loving the cosy comfy evenings in snuggled up on the sofa chilling. Every week I try a face mask and review it for you. This way you get to know the mask a little better before you buy.
Skincare is important to me and should be for everyone. It’s never too late to start a skincare routine or improve yours. If you think about it your face is always on show, wherever you go. My skin is normal to dry and the colder the weather the drier it gets. I haven’t ever had acne really. The occasion small spot but never the full teenage acne or anything. Most of the masks I try are ones to benefit my skin type but if they really take my fancy, I will try them too. Sheet masks aren’t the best for me because I must have a small face. Still on the lookout for the perfect sheet mask.
Today’s mask is the second of 3 in the ASOS Anatomicals pack. Farewell Scarlet Pimplehell is meant to be ideal for a weekly treat. It states to be a deep action mask that works to boost circulation and deeply cleanse pores, purifying your complexion. Your skin should be left refreshed, smooth and glowing. This product is meant to clean your skin and absorb excess oil, controls acne, controls blackheads, and leaves skin very smooth. We will see how this works.
As always, I read the instructions because you never know when and what a mask will do or meant to do. This is a 10 – 15 minutes leave on mask which is a time the majority are, but each has something different to follow. Start with a dry clean face, apply an equal layer across your face and go chill for a while. Wash off with a flannel.
First of all, let’s talk about the packaging. This is something I like about Anatomicals. Their packaging is clear, bright and bold. The colour is more earth toned than the photo shows orange. Which goes well with the mud mask. With the writing in white and black to stand out more on the plain packaging. They have quirky ways with phrases that aren’t things you think about, but they make you think.
Love that the opening is at the bottom of the pack. In every mask the content always lands at the bottom, so this makes it easier to get the mask out. Right as I began to open, I could smell cough mixture or medicine of some sort. Later to find out that this is the scent of the mask.
Easy to apply with the mask flowing from the packet better than most masks. Colouring the mask is an olive-green grey colour and that cough mixture smell does stay! I used about ¾ of the pack to coat my face with a decent layer of mask. So, it would be a push to get two out of this packet.
Left the mask on for a good 15 minutes and I was surprised when the time was up that the mask wasn’t fully dry. Maybe it’s not meant to. Never the less it was time to wash off. I simply wet a flannel and wiped off after a couple of wipes. It came off well to be honest. Simple to remove with just a wipe and no scrubbing.
Maybe it’s due to my skin type and not overly having spots or acne. But I do get small spots and it’s always good to clean your pores. Do you really know what your face receives daily and what affects you?
I have a small spot on my left hand lower cheek and it was irritating me the day I used this mask. But today the day after my spot is still there but no longer irritating. My skin does feel clean and smooth. Glowing I am not 100% sure on but I would say my skin is very oily today. Which is something the mask is meant to help with.
Unless you love smelling of cough mixture then you will like this mask. But it’s really not the most pleasantest of smells. It’s really strong in the smell as well so it’s not even a hint that will go away within a minute or two. Ok you could say you wear for 15 minutes only and wash it off. But I wouldn’t use this again because of the smell.
Price wise it’s a pack of 3 for £3.50 or 2 euros. So, it’s a cheap mask. Especially if you are using weekly that’s 8 euros a month. Which is nothing for skincare. Cheap always works when you’re a grownup and have a mortgage, car, bills etc to pay for. But skincare should be high up on the list of buys too. If the budget is cheap then Anatomicals are a good brand to go with.
This mask though unfortunately doesn’t tick the wow factor for me. I have used many of Anatomicals products before including masks and I normally highly recommend them. But the smell, the oily feel to my t zone especially. Just doesn’t let the mask do what it states it does. My spots still here and same sort of size, just less itchy.
It mentions refreshes your skin and I can say that today I feel refreshed. I had a good night’s sleep, but it wasn’t a full night’s sleep. It was more of a deep in and out of sleep mask. Whether that was from the mask or just me being tired. Who knows!
Out of 10 I would give this a 4 at a push. My face feels smoother and cleaner, but the oil aspect seems oilier that normal. Controls acne, ok I don’t have any more spots. But like I mentioned earlier I am one to hardly ever get the littlest of spots anyway.
Maybe this mask is better for younger ladies, teenage age to early 20s. More when acne is prone and blackhead galore. But for me 29 didn’t really help.
What is your go to mask at the minute? Would you try this one? Next week will be the last review from this pack of 3.
